Doing what matters for the planet, and for your clients.
We’re working hard to create new green mortgage options. It will help support the Government’s mission; to reduce the UK’s carbon footprint and encourage lenders to offer green finance products.
See more below about how we are helping the environment in other ways.
We’ve teamed up with Snugg.
Snugg is a great tool to support your clients in understanding the energy efficiency of their homes, and what steps they could take to improve it. Using just a postcode, Snugg will provide a free, personalised home energy improvement plan.

We’re planting thousands of trees to offset house moves.
In August 2020 we launched a new partnership with Eforests, a non-profit organisation which aims to help combat climate change through woodland restoration. The partnership means that for every home move where a TSB mortgage is provided, we’re committed to planting a tree, to help offset the carbon footprint of the house move for the customer.
Over 87,352 trees have been planted. Over its lifetime (typically 100 years) each tree will absorb on average 500 kgs of CO2.
Our workforce is more environmentally focused.
In 2022 we're reviewing the impact of our current merchandise and now sourcing more environmentally friendly and sustainable products for our Mortgage Intermediaries team. For example, our pens are made from recycled material, also using FSC paper where possible and moving from plastic bottles to reusable aluminium water bottles. National Account Managers and Business Development Managers (BDMs) will be sharing our new items at upcoming events.
Our ‘Think before you print’ employee campaign has reduced the amount of paper we use by 60% in 2021. We’re on track to reduce our paper use in 2022 by a further 25%.
Our BDMs are doing what matters.
We encourage our employees to take part in volunteering. Over the years our BDMs have stepped up to volunteer for their communities with projects ranging from DIY at a hospice to litter picking with local action groups. Our BDMs are spread across the UK and are always looking for ways to support local causes.
IMLA Broker survey.
The Intermediary Mortgage Lenders Association (IMLA) understand the demand for new environmentally conscious initiatives. They conducted a survey in 2020 and found mortgage brokers expect more borrowers to take out green mortgages, with 58% saying they expect demand for the products to grow in the next few years.*
We will be adding more products to our portfolio to meet this increase in demand for green mortgage options.
